10 Signs Your Spouse is Having a Virtual Affair (Part 1)

Is spouse having an online affair? We look at the top 10 signs to watch for..

Online affairs, or ‘virtual affairs’ as they are sometimes called, are becoming so commonplace these days that the term is recognized in it’s own right. More and more people are turning to their computers and smartphones have their sexual desires met. A phenomenon that may seem strange, until you consider the facts: You can get practically everything online, from the more mundane clothing and groceries, to the stranger end of the spectrum including zombie survival kits and UFO detectors. When you look at it like that, a sexual relationship found online isn’t all that weird.

Before we begin, however, we would like to caution our readers to remember that suspicion is not the same thing as fact. Just because you suspect your spouse of sneaking around behind their back, doesn’t make them guilty. These are signs that commonly point to infidelity, but they are not an ironclad guarantee that you should start prepping for your divorce! We advise you to consider all life-altering decisions carefully before committing to a course of action..

However, if your spouse is exhibiting more than 5 of these 10 signs, you may have cause for concern…..

  1. Time spent online –

Almost everybody spends time online these days, and everyone’s internet use differs based on their job, social media interaction, and gaming habits. However, when your spouse suddenly starts spending significantly more time online than before, this could be a sign of a developing affair.

  1. Abrupt shutdowns –

If your spouse shuts off their screen, closes their laptop, or minimizes windows as soon as you walk by or enter a room, they are likely hiding things from you. Once or twice can be written off as something innocent, like online gift shopping. However regularly shutting down in your presence usually indicates something serious they don’t want you to know about.

  1. Compulsive computer use –

If your spouse cannot tear themselves away from their computer, and becomes angry or defensive when forced to be away for a period of time longer than an hour or two, you may have an issue on your hands.

  1. Late night online activity –

If your spouse is staying up past your bedtime to go online, or getting up in the middle of the night to check their computer, you likely have a problem. Waking up in the wee hours of the morning hours to discover your bed empty and your spouse online, is a good indicator of infidelity.

  1. Passwords –

Some people are more particular than others about their security. However,  if your spouse never cared much before, but is suddenly protecting their e-mail, social media, and gaming accounts, look out! Especially if they were willing to share this information in the past but now seem very reluctant.

We hope this list has been helpful to you in determining whether or not you have cause for concern in your marriage. Join us next time as we wrap up the conversation with the other five signs you need to keep a look out for!
